Used Clutch and Shift Gears Help You See the Light
January 16th, 2008
Hey there! Here’s a designer who unleashed his imagination on some transmission parts that were headed to the dump. His name is Scott Sullivan and his company is Solderman Collective. I read about Mr. Sullivan in a Wall Street Journal article regarding artists and designers turning used auto parts into eco-friendly gifts. He is transforming used clutch and shift gears into stylish lamps and coasters. I think the lamps and coasters are awesome and elegant and he really has some imagination. There is no way I could look at some junk auto parts and think of something useful to do with them! Happy Lighting!

Eat Your Cookies and Visit Val’s Art Diary
January 15th, 2008
Hey y’all! Here’s the first real post since migrating to WordPress. Well, here’s one artist who unleashes her imagination on a weekly basis and I really like her style. Her name is Valentina Trevino and I read about her in a Wall Street Journal article regarding using video to expand your business.
Ms. Trevino posts a new video every Sunday on YouTube of herself creating her latest painting. Once she’s done with the painting she puts it for sale on eBay. Not only that; but, if you really like one of her paintings and don’t want to pay the price for an original she sells prints and coloring pages for the kids.
So, what’s all this got to do with eating cookies? Well, “Eat Your Cookies” is Ms. Trevino’s catch phrase and she sells t-shirts, mugs and such with the “Eat Your Cookies” phrase. So, have a seat with the Hannahbells cheese I wrote about earlier and check out her latest video below. Also, visit her website and visit her at MySpace and YouTube. Happy Painting Watching and Buying!

PC Keyboards Time Travel for Victorian-era Makeover
January 8th, 2008
Hey y’all! Well, here’s one artist, Richard Nagy, who has unleashed his imagination to design awesome Victorian-era fully functioning PC keyboards. I think these PC keyboards are gorgeous. The custom designed keyboards are named to match their design. The Aviator has a brushed aluminum frame, black felt faceplate and jewel styled LED’s reminiscent of an old airplane instrument panel. The Sojourner has an artificially tarnished polished brass frame, slightly weathered keys electroplated in brass against an aged leather faceplate and parchment inserts. He has several other PC keyboards such as The Industrial and The Baron of Cyprus. Visit his site, Datamancer, to view the pictures of these fantastic keyboards and see his other creations. I could see listening to a Pink Martini CD and wearing a vintage-inspired apron from Carolyn’s Kitchen while using one of these awesome PC keyboards. Happy keyboarding!

Makin’ the WordPress Move!
January 7th, 2008
Hey there! Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be migrating to WordPress this week or next week (possibly over the weekend). For my non-blogger terminology readers; this will change the look of the site and will wipe out everyone’s subscription and any comments that have been made on articles. I do not have access to my subscribers email address; so, if you would like to continue receiving the Unleashed articles you will have to subscribe again after I make the move.
I will give you one more notice before I actually make the move to WordPress. WordPress will allow me much more control over the look of my site and many more design options. I truly hope that everyone is enjoying the articles and that you re-new your subscription once I make the move.
On a side note, StartUp Ladies is up now; but, I don’t have any articles or interviews yet. I will be customizing it a bit more and then will start adding tips, articles and POP Interviews\’aa with women entrepreneurs.
If you would like me to have your email address for subscribing you to the new version of Unleashed; just post a comment to this article using the Comment icon below. Please let me know your thoughts or suggestions about the move. I would love to hear them!

What Do Beauty, Sleep, Travel and Comfort Have in Common?
January 6th, 2008
Hey y’all! A pillow, of course! This one’s another from a fellow Nevada resident. This multi-purpose pillow, the Spacesleeper, was invented by Tony Hightower who spent six years developing it. The Spacesleeper is a soft foam wearable pillow that fits over your head. It can help with sleep wrinkles and it can be used on cars, buses, airplanes or trains to get comfortable sleep. The following excerpt is from the Spacesleeper website: “Spacesleeper’s unique design creates a space between your face and sleeping surface, therefore preventing any contact points. By preventing contact between the face and sleeping surface it eliminates any pressure, stretching, folding and permanent creasing of the facial tissues caused by sleeping.” The Spacesleeper also has medical uses so make sure to visit the site to find more information about its other uses. You could get this for yourself and get the Cares restraint system for your little and you could both have a more comfortable flight the next time you fly! Happy “Sleep Wrinkle Free” Sleeping!

The Takeout Tin Gets a Porcelain Makeover
January 3rd, 2008
Hey y’all! These have got to be the coolest kitchen ware items I have come across. This Brooklyn-based designer, Lorena Barrezueta, has really unleashed her imagination to create these beauties. Think pie crust tin, chicken potpie circular and rectangular sushi plate. She is using the same molds as the tin versions; but instead of tin she crafts them entirely by hand with fine porcelain. She calls them the Gourmet Collection and their are 3 color lines: Classic, Fresh & Lush.
A portion of 2007 proceeds from the Gourmet Collection will be going to support Disabled American Veterans. These would be great as a housewarming gift taken along with some of the Hannabell cheese and one of the vintage-inspired aprons written about earlier. Happy Kitchen Ware Buying!
